Town of Crested Butte

About

Once you walk down Elk Avenue, the main street in town, you will fall in love with the old mining town charm. It is no surprise, this area is highly desirable for its proximity to restaurants, shops, events and great people watching. For this reason, Downtown Crested Butte has some of the highest property values in the area. The majority of town is a Designated Historic District, and the Board of Zoning and Architectural Review (BOZAR), requires new buildings and all construction to go through review.

On the east side of town, you have the K-12 Community School, along with Rainbow park, the Trailhead Children’s Museum and lots of recreational trails. To the west of Gothic Road, the shops and restaurants along Elk Avenue create a lively atmosphere.

Affordable housing does exist in Town, and a list of Affordable Housing Projects can be found here.

Vacation Rentals must obtain a license from the Town (both for Unlimited Vacation Rental Licenses and Primary Residence Vacation Rental Licenses).
